The majority of 3 wheel double buggies start as single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to accommodate the second seat using adapters. You'll also find that some models allow you to add a ride-on board to older children who want to walk but require a little help.
Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for a lightweight option perfect for city streets. It's easy to maneuver and has a deep basket that has plenty of storage space. It can accommodate twins starting at birth and accepts two car seats, or a carrycot with seat. The seats have to face forward and there is no space to store an item under the seat. You will require a sidepack.
If you like to go off-road, the Mountain Buggy Duet is a great choice. It's a side-by-side with the slimmest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. It's easier to maneuver through narrow doors as well as on public transport. It is also able to climb over and up kerbs. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the adjustable handlebar to provide additional security and safety.
Another option that is light weight is the UPPAbaby Vista 2 Double that can be used to accommodate twins or a toddler and baby. The seats have a multi-position reclining with UPF 50+ sunshades. The iCandy Orange double buggies are among the most well-known available. This is due to their outstanding comfort. It's an all-terrain vehicle, with a soft suspension to make light work of bumpy surfaces. It has 30 different seating configurations, a built-in board for older children who like to walk and a 'cinema mode that raises the back seat for better visibility.
The phil&teds dot is a brilliant single buggy from day 1 which is then able to take 2 (or 3!) Different configurations are possible. This is particularly useful if you have a baby in a car. The frame can be fitted to a wedgie, which allows for the best lie-flat position. Car seat adapters that fit many brands.
Suspension
The suspension of a double 3 wheel buggy will determine the ease with which your child/children and you can push it. It is crucial to enjoy a smooth ride because babies can feel every bump that comes along the road. This is particularly the case if you're driving on rough terrain such as grass or unpaved roads. Some models also come with locking front wheels to help with maneuvering and getting over obstacles such as curbs.
Some models come with air-filled tyres which will give you a great all-terrain adventure, but they could be susceptible to punctures, so make sure you have spares in the trunk. Some models have foam or gel-filled tyres that are designed to absorb bumps. They are less likely to puncture, but they could cause discomfort for your child if you choose to jog.

Folding
A 3 wheel double buggy can fold very well to store it. You can find options that fold flat and then stand up (as as if they were in a pushchair) and also those that pop up to reveal a more umbrella-style fold, with a hand-operated brake. In general, the more wheels a buggy comes with the more able it will be to navigate on rough terrain. This is especially true if the wheels are larger than the average size. You will have more stability, and it will be less likely that you will have to tip over or flip your child.
A popular option is the iCandy Wave, which can be used from birth with an infant car seat and transforms into a side-by-side double buggy when your child is old enough for them to sit next to each other. It's a light-feeling option, which makes it easy to push, and it comes with extra features like bumper bars and a raincover.
The phil&teds sports is an alternative option. It is future-proof since it's a fantastic buggy, and can be modified to take two (or three!) All of this is incorporated into its compact footprint. It features a clever 3-wheel design with the sling seat to provide better maneuverability, stability, and the ability to pop the kerb.
